Maria Helena is a biologist with over twelve years experience in the accompaniment, evaluation and monitoring of projects and business ventures related to sustainable use and biodiversity. She has extensive experience supporting private sector and local communities in the implementation of sustainability criteria, including aspects of productivity, profitability and environmental management. Maria Helena obtained a Master’s degree in forest management from the University of Joensuu (Finland) and has developed graduate courses focused on the sustainable use of forest products and rural development in Japan, Italy and Costa Rica.

Maria Helena works in Earth Innovation Institute’s Bogota, Colombia office as a Research Associate focused on issues related to policies, incentives, planning instruments and private sector engagement.
