Grant Finance & Administration Manager

OUR ORGANIZATION:
Earth Innovation Institute catalyzes innovative, large-scale transitions to low-emissions rural development in tropical forest regions. Through regional interventions, we strive to increase farm production, forest cover, fisheries yields, and rural household wellbeing while decreasing emissions of heat-trapping gases. We are now working with local partners and through our own resident staff to implement regional strategies for low-emission rural development in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Indonesia, Mexico and Kenya.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Earth Innovation Institute (EII) seeks a full-time Grant Finance & Administration Manager to work with the Director of Finance & Administration in its San Francisco office. The Grant Finance & Administration Manager is a key senior member of the administrative and finance team, reporting to and working closely with the Director of Finance and Administration (F&A), who is a part of the Management Team of EII. He/she will serve as the primary point of contact with EII program staff, foreign-based field teams, and subgrantee NGOs on issues related to all grant-related disbursements and grant financial reporting. The Manager will also be responsible for the administration of annual consultant contracts and sub-awards, and work with the Director of Finance & Administration to ensure compliance with donor agencies and internal policies. He/she will manage EII’s Operations Administrator, who will be a direct report.

Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the Director of F&A but ultimately assume responsibility for producing monthly grant budget reports for all current EII grants
    • Assist the Director of F&A in developing project budgets for new grant proposals, working with the Executive Director, the Manager of Development and other program team members
    • Work closely with the Director of F&A and the relevant program leads to develop and submit annual grant budgets
    • Lead and be responsible for coordinating the Accounts Payable process related to all grant-related payments
    • Review all subgrantee NGO financial reports to identify and resolve budget compliance or other issues

Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance/Business or direct experience in NGO finances and/or grant administration and reporting
    • Familiarity with grant reporting or NGO finances a plus
    • Excellent computer skills, including fluid proficiency in Excel and handling large data sets
    • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
    • Initiative-taker
    • Strong writing, interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to translate financial concepts and effectively collaborate with program colleagues without finance backgrounds
    • Spanish/Portuguese fluency a plus; willingness to invest in developing language skills
      Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, flexibility to take on diverse duties, anticipate problems, and navigate changing priorities
    • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, coachable and a good coach
    • Ability to work flexibly both in a team environment and independently
    • Eligible to work in the US
