John holds a Master of Environmental Management from the University of New South Wales. He has been providing administrative and institutional support to for profit and non-profit organisations and research initiatives since 1999. Since 2007, he has been working as a researcher, focusing on the governance of natural resources and rural livelihoods. From 2007 until 2010, he worked with the Center for International Forestry Research on the Landscape Mosaics project, a collaborative project with the World Agroforestry Centre. In 2011, he began his doctoral thesis, which involved studying rural livelihoods and decision-making of farmers and fishers living in a coastal landscape in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Since 2012, he has been supporting Earth Innovation Institute’s Indonesia program through providing research, analytical and editorial support.
