Shoana has a Ph.D. in Forest Resources and Conservation with a minor in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. She has worked in community forestry and forest certification for the last 20 years in the US, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, and Germany. Her work at Earth Innovation Institute focuses on training and applied research with community-based forest enterprises in the Amazon region. Shoana’s international community forestry experience began with a short term consultancy with the Bolivian Sustainable Forest Management Project, which led to two years in Peru and several years working in Brazil. Hiking, dancing, and cooking are some of Shoana’s favorite pastimes, and her travels have broadened her tastes in music and food.
