Intensive livestock farming featured in Brazil's leading agribusiness publication

DBO Magazine, one of the most influential publications in Brazil's agricultural sector, features Antônio Lobato, director of sustainable agriculture strategy at the Earth Innovation Institute - EII, on its cover this month. The article highlights the successful experience of intensive livestock farming developed at Fazenda Dona Eunice, a production model that shows, in practice, that it is possible to produce more, with sustainability and greater profitability.

Fazenda Dona Eunice, located in Maracanã, State of Pará, Brazil, has become a national reference by achieving significant results in productivity and sustainability. With intensive grazing modules based on planning, adequate fertilization, and daily precision management, the property increased its production to about 50 arrobas per hectare per year, achieving profitability of more than R$ 5,000 per hectare in its most mature areas. These indicators reflect the combination of technical knowledge, operational discipline, and commitment to continuous improvement.

The experience reported in the article shows that intensification is not just about fertilizing pasture, but investing in management, people, infrastructure, technology, and environmental responsibility. When properly conducted, intensive livestock farming reduces pressure on the forest, increases profitability, and strengthens the competitiveness of production in the Amazon, with a vision of a productive, efficient, and environmentally responsible future.

EII has been working in Pará with the aim of collaborating in strengthening the state's environmental public policies. One of the initiatives is the construction of the Sustainable Production Subprogram of the REDD+ Jurisdictional System in conjunction with the productive sector and the Government of Pará, which aims to provide subsidies for good practices, such as intensification.

In addition, it also operates in the municipality of Paragominas, with the first pilot of actions that can be financed with JREDD+ resources, the Integrated Landscape Management - Paragominas, with the installation of a specialized brigade to advise rural communities on integrated fire management. The action is carried out in partnership with Aliança da Terra, Produzindo Certo, and local stakeholders such as the Rural Producers' Syndicate, city government of Paragominas, the Rural Communities Forum, and Cirad.
