EII Promotes Knowledge Exchange of Women Entrepreneurs in Low-Emission Production

Earth Innovation Institute, together with the Network of Rural Women of Madre de Dios, Peru, and the state of Acre, Brazil, will host a meeting of 14 women producers from the Lower Acre Region and 30 producers from Madre de Dios to exchange experiences regarding the role of women workers in the rural sector and their participation in income generation. The event will take place on June 14-16 in Puerto Maldonado, Peru, taking advantage of the Meeting of Women Entrepreneurs of the South Marco of Peru happening simultaneously. In this event, participants will be able to present their experiences in producing low-emission agricultural products such as sustainable chicken, pork, and fish; harvesting and processing non-timber products; marketing handicrafts; and promoting ecotourism. A central theme of the exchange will be discussing the importance of low-emission production in environmental conservation. This exchange feeds into EII’s goals to systematize experiences in low-emission rural development (LED-R) in order to impact agricultural policy, specifically as it relates to families and women’s participation and contribution to sustainable development. Support for the event comes from NORAD, through EII’s Forest, Farms and Finance project, and the SISA+ Project with UNDP/GCF-Acre.
