This report highlights Brazil’s opportunity to position the Amazon as a global climate solution by drastically reducing deforestation, restoring forests, and promoting a sustainable bioeconomy. Through jurisdictional REDD+ (JREDD+) programs, Brazilian states can generate high-integrity carbon credits, potentially raising $10–20 billion by 2030. These programs support indigenous and rural communities while aligning with national climate goals. The Amazon could offset 1–2% of global emissions, enhancing rainfall stability and food security. As host of COP 30, Brazil can unlock this potential by promoting JREDD+ integrity, mobilizing funding, and fostering international partnerships like a proposed Brazil-China initiative on forests, food, and climate.
