Bjørn is Europe Director for EII, where he engages business and industry leaders, policy makers, consumer groups and nonprofits in strategies to reduce commodity-driven deforestation and biodiversity loss in tropical forest regions. From 2011-2020, Bjørn served as the CEO of Denofa, a key importer of non-GMO soy in the Nordic region of Europe, where he brought the company’s sustainability work and climate action to the core of its strategy. Bjørn’s leadership helped spur Norway’s feed industry to fully implement a commitment to zero deforestation for certified sustainable soy in 2015. He was instrumental in linking Norway’s national soy initiative with those of seven other European countries as part of the Amsterdam Declaration, encouraging Europe-wide private sector commitments on deforestation. Bjørn brings more than 20 years of executive-level management experience in the international trade of commodities including wool, canola, cocoa beans, palm oil and soy. He holds degrees in Marketing and Food and Drink Innovation. Bjørn is based in Oslo, Norway and serves on the board of the Emergence School of Leadership.
