Darrel Webber’s career in sustainable development dates back to 2005 and includes stints with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Malaysia, WWF-International and Global Sustainability Associates. Prior to that time Darrel worked in the logging, oil & gas, and consumer goods manufacturing sectors. He most recently spent nine years as CEO of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), where he grew the organization’s membership more than ten-fold, helping it become a world leader in sustainable palm oil production. He counts among his achievements at RSPO the organization’s positive impact on the environment and on the economic wellbeing of the communities he has served. Darrel’s success in forging cross-sector partnerships makes him uniquely suited to support Earth Innovation Institute’s Tropical Forest Champions initiative, which focuses on connecting companies with tropical forest states and regions that are striving for forest-,climate-, and community-friendly development. Darrel will also help to coordinate EII’s work in Southeast Asia. Darrel serves on the boards of two nonprofits. He also advises international certification schemes on a voluntary basis. An indigenous Bornean, Darrel was born in Sabah, on the island of Borneo, Malaysia, where he currently resides.
